Woodside Hills
Is Now A Firewise USA® Site

On July 16, 2019, Woodside Hills began the process to become the next Firewise USA Site.
On January 5, 2022, Woodside Hills became a nationally recognized Firewise USA Site!

The Firewise USA® Program is a project of the National Fire Prevention Association. (NFPA.org)

The program gives us a framework to assess the fire risks thoughout Wiidside Hills, build a plan to mitigate those risks, and act effectively according to our plan.

With the help of all our neighbors, working as a community, we can greatly reduce the risk of losing our homes to fire.

Here is a short video (4 minutes) on YouTube.

And a longer (13 minutes) video that gives you more detail on how the program works.

Learn more about the Firewise USA program at the WPV-Ready web site. WPV-Ready is the Emergency Preparedness operating in our fire district, with support from the Towns of Woodside and Portola Valley, the Woodside Fire Protection District, and San Mateo County.

You can see the results of some projects on our Project Showcase page.

We hope that every resident of Woodside Hills will feel part of this community-wide effort.  We need every neighbor's help.  We need...

  • Every neighbor to help us assess the fire risks in their home, and work together to reduce them.
  • Some neighbors to help us organize neighbors, collect and do risk assessments, and look for risks that might be missed.
  • A few neighbors to help us manage the plan, by joining the Woodside Hills Firewise Board.

You can always reach us be sending email to firewise@woodsidehills.org.  Or by calling Emerson "Chip" Swan, the chief organizer of the Woodside Hills Firewise Program, at (650) 382-7541.
